Pollution alert : Mazut in the Nile

As if we need another problem or rather disaster in Egypt we should care about this summer ,now we have to deal with a huge environmental problem that threats all our lives in Cairo.

Yesterday a huge leak of Mazut happened due to a break in the mazut pipeline of Helwan Cement plant , creating oil spots floating in the Nile.

The officials from the ministries of Petroleum and water and irrigation said that there was no danger for the drinking water as the speed of the water in the River Nile can break up any spot but unfortunately eye witnesses so the spot floating away from Helwan till it reached Cairo and Crossed Abu-Al Alaa and Kasr Al Nil bridges !!

Already if the speed of the river can break any spot why they treated to make dams as soon as this leak happened and why.

The Ministry of Petroleum said that  the leak did not affect the drinking water pipeline then why they closed the water station in the area of the leak for whole 3 days !!??

Already the leak according to the press has happened for 10 hours , so can you imagine the amount in the Nile !!??

25 cars tried to suck this mazut spots but in vain !!??

It is so dangerous according to environmentalists and researchers , we will drink that contaminated water for weeks and that it can cause kidney failure !!??

As if the Nile does not suffer enough pollution !!??

May I ask one naive question

What this factory is doing beside the river !!??

You know I have enough seriously , I wish that one I would write about something really cheerful.

A Summary  from Al Masry Al Youm.
